Meet One of Our Members!

Picture
Vicky Laws credits her good friend and fellow guild member, Sharon Racibozynski, with introducing her to the world of quilting. Vicky became a member of the guild after attending an early RQG Gathering that featured appliqué artist Patricia Campbell. Since then she has served on the board of the guild in many ways, including hospitality, library, membership, contracts and workshops (together with the Batik Babes Bee), and presently as treasurer.
When asked about her interest in appliqué, Vicky laughed and said with a smile, “I really consider myself a beginner and should take a class in finishing quilts.” She admits she does not do much hand work at all and thinks of herself as more a collector of fabric and small auction quilts than a quilter. But her enthusiasm for guild meetings belies this notion and confirms her active interest in the craft. The monthly programs always inspire her.

Quilt retreats are also one of her favorite activities and she gets away with friends often. When you see her at the next meeting, ask about some of the retreat locations she enjoys. She’s even been on a quilting cruise with her sister!
Vicky admits to having quite a few unfinished quilt tops which will probably go out to a professional quilter. She doesn’t trust her own quilting skills that far yet. Those tops are tucked away in her quilt studio, which was recently packed up during a home remodel and is now coming back to a well-organized life. Who knows? It’s likely she will be ready to work toward more quilting milestones. In the meantime, remember she’s someone you’d like to meet!

Thanks Vicky!
