Lecture Description: In this presentation, Veruschka details her quilting journey from learning traditional practices of quilting, to discovering and now designing foundation paper piece quilts. She also touches on a combination of topics regarding foundation paper piecing including successful elements and pitfalls in drafting and designing FPP Patterns, tips and tricks in FPP technique practices, the use of modern color and fabric applications and much more. Veruschka will also give a demonstration and trunk show of quilt pieces she has made.
About Veruschka: Veruschka Zarate of Pride & Joy Quilting is a Quilt Maker and Pattern Designer, specializing in the technique of Foundation Paper Piecing. She was one of the featured Faculty for The Modern Quilt Guild QuiltCon 2022, and her quilt "Pride and Joy" won two awards at QuiltCon 2022: 1st Place in Piecing & The People’s Choice Award. She began learning traditional piecing and quilting techniques in 2016 and through a voracious desire to keep learning, happened upon Foundation Paper Piecing in 2019. After falling in love with the technique, Veruschka set out to create her own designs focused on subjects that inspire joy, vibrancy, empowerment and encouragement.
