Lecture Description:  Marisa will talk about her creative process and show samples of her art quilts.

About Marisa:  Marisa has been quilting since 2000 but she did not make her first art quilt until 2014.
Marisa started experimenting with ideas, forms and textures and decided to create a wall quilt from one of her drawings. The main change in her work is trying subjects that have a meaning to her. The themes really do not make a difference in her work; Marisa will try to find something that will be personal. Sometimes it will be an image like a painting or sculpture or it could be a song or music composition. Marisa likes surreal and symbolic compositions and likes to create something with hidden objects with a hidden meaning. Most recently she likes to use words to express an idea and she is inclined more often towards the abstract. It gives her more freedom to create.
Her quilts have been published in multiple books and magazines and she has won numerous awards at quilt shows both in the US and Europe.
