Guild Philanthropy ProjectsThe Riverwalk Quilt Guild has chosen two charities to send quilts made by our guild members. The first is the Sharing Connection of Lisle Illinois. They provide needy families with basic household goods. Our quilts go to babies and children and fleece throws go to adults. The second group is the Care Center at Edwards Hospital in Naperville. They provide our quilts to sexually abused children during their examination and give each child the same quilt to take with them. Quilts are collected all year long. Kits of fabric for these quilts are available each month at our Philanthropy table during each guild meeting. Your can sign out the kit and bring back the completed quilt when you are done. Of course, you can always provide your own fabric. Sign the completed quilts in so that you can be recognized for your efforts. The January PartyThe January New Years party is our annual Rummage Sale when guild members clean out their sewing closets (rooms), price it right and sell those extra items back to themselves! All proceeds from this event are allocated to our philanthropy budget. Annual Guild Sew-a-ThonA special quilt making effort is put forth at our October Sew-A-Thon when members bring fabric, thread, sewing machines and cutting implements to sew the evening away in a special effort to make quilts for children and needy adults. Fabric, batting and patterns are available at each year's meeting. Team up with a friend, your bee, or meet new people. It is always a fun evening. © 2007 Riverwalk Quilters Guild |
