Special Events

2011-2012 Quilt Challenge

"Naperville Streets" is the name of our challenge this year, with the intent to have the completed small quilts do a traveling show at the Library, Art League, etc. These quilts will represent Naperville and also Riverwalk Quilt Guild.

Each quilt should be 10"x10", bound, and is due at the February 2012 meeting. You may represent the street name and construct the small quilt in whatever manner you choose. We will be awarding a prize based on Viewer’s Choice of guild members.

We hope that you will choose to participate!

Quilting Bees

If you're looking for a smaller, more informal group with which to share your love of quilting, then a “bee” might be just the answer for you. A bee is a group of quilters, usually Riverwalk members, who meet on a periodic basis to either work on group projects or individual work or to work in a particular quilting style, such as appliqué or miniatures. The bee members set the exact activities of their bee. Several bees have been set up in the past few years, and there are always members looking to form new bees or join existing ones all the time.

We are happy to announce that we have two new bees that were organized this fall. Both groups are looking for additional members. The evening bee meets the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. The daytime bee meets the first Tuesday of the month at 2:00 p.m. If you're interested in a bee, stop by the Special Events table to sign up.

Raffle Baskets

We sell tickets for a raffle basket at most meetings. The proceeds from these baskets help to pay for our awesome speakers!

Orphan Blocks

We collect orphan blocks for sharing with other guild members. Do you have any orphan blocks cluttering up your quilt studio? We’d love to have you bring them to the guild meeting and donate them at the special events table. Check out the selection and maybe there is a special block that needs to go home with you!
