Lecture Description: Sue will present a trunk show of her quilts and motivate and inspire us with the story behind each of her approximately 600 pounds of quilts! She loves using small scraps and developing quilts using the same block in different sizes.
About Sue: Sue Pawlowski began sewing in 1973 and is now the quilter behind Jack Squares Studio. A leaf quilt on the cover of Quiltmaker magazine inspired her to try quilting in 1994. When she began, she made seasonal wall hangings and especially liked designs by Debbie Mumm and scrappy quilts by Judy Martin. Now she designs her own quilts and patterns, and is beginning to feel a slight pull toward a more modern look. Her favorite quilts to make are scrappy with lots of small pieces. Her favorite quilt that she made is Minnesota Nights. Sue hopes someday to make a whole cloth quilt. She loves teaching, meeting students, and hearing the stories they share. Teaching gives her a better feel for how to explain instructions when writing patterns. She teaches classes on various techniques and uses her own quilt designs. Sue is also a longarm quilter, using a Statler Stitcher, run by her together with a computer. Other than quilting, Sue enjoys hiking, reading, accounting, and searching for quilt shops when she travels. She grew up in Lombard, studied French and finance/accounting in college, and is the mother of three wonderful boys.
